In 2000, Henry and Eleanore Simpatico learned of a Website about Mary's Gardens (Mary's Garden's Homepage). After visiting the site, they found that Mary's Gardens was a society that researched the hundreds of types of flowers that were named after Our Lady, and held as symbols of her life, mysteries, and privileges.
In 2001, the Simpaticos obtained approval to begin a Mary's Garden at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. After a year of work in researching the types of flowers that would flourish in North Bennington, Vermont and a lot of hard work, the garden was officially 'opened' at a dedication ceremony presided over by then new Pastor, Father Edward Howard.
